- ClickMail: CertifiedEmail Goes Beyond Email Deliverability Best Practices to ROI
Goodmail should be high on your list of email deliverability best practices, because Goodmail certification guarantees your email will be delivered. Goodmail’s partner ISPs and mailbox providers, like AOL and Comcast, let your emails through every single time when they’re CertifiedEmail. But it should also be high on your list of email marketing best practices because it does even more to increase your email marketing ROI beyond getting your email delivered. It ensures your email renders as planned and is fully functional too. - Direct: Laura Atkins on Monitoring E-mail Deliverability (Goodmail mentioned)
E-mail Essentials: What should a marketer keep an eye out for when shopping for tools or service providers? Atkins: Make sure the tool reports what you need from it and that you understand what is being measured. Also, watch out for companies that guarantee inbox placement. Only Goodmail has the contracts with ISPs that require the ISPs to put all Goodmail-certified mail into the inbox. In all other cases, they can't guarantee inbox placement. | Sherry Chiger, Direct - DMNews: Video provides a richer experience in e-mail
Turner Sports relies on e-mail marketing to help drive traffic to PGATour.com during the annual PGA Championship, which in turn drives ad revenues. The site's user experience is centered on live streaming coverage of the games, so for last year's Championship games, the media company decided to merge the two by adding video to e-mail.More tools are emerging to allow marketers to address these issues. For example, Goodmail has a tool called CertifiedVideo that lets qualified e-mail marketers send video attachments within an e-mail to AOL accounts. The limitation is what prompted PGA to send the e-mail to the 20% of subscribers using AOL. | Dianna Dilworth, DMNews

- iMedia Connection: Savvy solutions for mixing video with email
The demand for interactivity on the web has never been more insisting. Ten years ago no one could have predicted the amount of user-generated content on what is now considered web 2.0. The explosion of video on the web, over the last two years, has resulted in marketers looking for more sophisticated ways to bring interactivity into their marketing programs. This includes email marketers, who view video as a savvy way to engage consumers... Goodmail's CertifiedVideo is a solution that allows clients of Goodmail Systems Inc. to send video in an email message, and even further allow that video to play directly in the recipients' inboxes. How is this possible? Goodmail verifies each email and uses tokens to mark emails containing video as safe and trusted content.| Jim Kelley, iMedia Connection
Goodmail receives Lead 411's "Hottest Silicon Valley Company" award.- The Register: Email 2.0: Trying to catch up with the web
Reports of the death of email greatly exaggerated
Well, these days could be back with us soon if the engineers at INET SF have their way. “As we moved forwards to Web 2.0, email moved backwards to 0.7,” explains Daniel Dreymann of Goodmail Systems, pointing out that email systems these days pull out just about anything that isn’t plain text. “We have to move forward to Email 2.0.” | Kieren McCarthy | The Register

- Internet Retailer: New tricks, such as video and social sharing, add pizzazz to retailers’ e-mail campaigns
This is related to: CertifiedVideo
This is state of the art e-mail. Recipients can play the video within the e-mail, at least those who use the e-mail systems of certain Internet service providers that have agreements with Goodmail Systems Inc., Thrillist’s e-mail provider. Goodmail’s CertifiedVideo system attests that the video is not harmful, and the inbox providers let the video past their security filters. Recipients that use other e-mail providers can click on an image from the video that takes them to a page on the Thrillist site to view the takedown. Goodmail charges Thrillist $10 per thousand e-mails for CertifiedVideo, compared with $2.50 per thousand for its standard CertifiedEmail program. The only other costs are small chunks of time from editors and an in-house video professional. Thrillist has only just started with the technology, but it’s already seen increased click-through rates on video e-mail. And it says a major benefit is readers who see video in e-mail are more likely to go to the site and spend more time on it... | Bill Siwicki, Internet Retailer - MediaPost: The Inbox of the Not-So-Distant Future
For better or worse, the email inbox is well on its way to becoming the nexus of all digital communications.
This is related to: CertifiedVideo
Inboxes are also set to be able to do much more, reducing the need for subscribers to click through to take action. Future inboxes may also give consumers even more control over their email streams beyond eliminating unwanted email with a click of the "report spam" button. Video, in a variety of forms, are finding their way into the inbox as well. On the low end, video gifs are bringing a video-lite experience to the inbox. Frame rates are good and they work in most email clients, but you have to click through to enable sound. On the high end, Goodmail's Certified Video offers sound in the inbox for videos, but it's not broadly supported. Similarly, Gmail now enables YouTube functionality in emails, but that's also a single-platform solution... Goodmail's CertifiedCommerce product also enables product carousels for browsing, but more interestingly it allows for transactions to take place within the email itself, totally eliminating the need for a landing page. Both Gmail's Enhanced Email and Goodmail's CertifiedCommerce represent extending JavaScript (or something like it) to the inbox, which brings up security issues. There are already concerns that some of these higher inbox functions will come with price tags that will allow only big marketers to use them, but sender reputation -- along with authentication and various forms of accreditation -- may ultimately be the factor that opens the door to these need tools when there are security issues. | Chad White, MediaPost - StyleCampaign Blog: JavaScript making a comeback?
Both Goodmail and Google are beta testing rich content enabled platforms. Google’s, Enhanced Email is limited to Gmail. Goodmail’s, CertifiedCommerce is designed to have broader ISP implementation and will be supported by AOL first. Goodmail’s CertfiedCommerce is currently a JavaScript driven solution, but according to Goodmail is not limited to it. Though as yet unconfirmed, Gmail’s Enhanced Email would also appear to be largely driven by JavaScript. Used widely on the web, JavaScript allows you to dynamically assign content to a page, send information to a remote server, pop a window or add interactive content. | StyleCampaign Blog

Goodmail Publishes Email Industry's First Domain-Based Whitelist
This is related to: CertifiedDomain
Signs that the internet is moving to a domain-based standard continue to proliferate. The latest: Goodmail Systems last month published a list that Goodmail has dubbed the industry's first domain-based whitelist of good email senders. Called CertifiedDomain, it is the first in a new line of domain-based products to be introduced by Goodmail throughout 2010. "As more and more email senders embrace email authentication standards such as DKIM and SIDF, it is now time to assign and track reputation at the internet domain level," says Daniel Dreymann, president and co-founder of Goodmail. Owners of internet domains listed on Goodmail's CertifiedDomain list undergo an accreditation process, passing checks across a number of public and private databases. Goodmail cross-references a domain's reputation against this data, making sure the applicant adheres to email sending best practices. | Marketing Vox - This article is related to a Goodmail Press Release:
- DM News Inbox Insider: Partnerships clear the way for video in e-mail marketing
This is related to: CertifiedVideo, CertifiedVideo .GIF
Industry experts have chatted about using video in e-mail marketing for years, but the technology was held back by deliverability and bandwidth issues. Yet these days, e-mail service providers are conquering those challenges. They're more often coming to the table with video e-mail solutions, a result of their partnerships with video vendors, as well as e-mail deliverability tools that bypass the former technical issues. For instance, Goodmail Systems announced a partnership with Liveclicker, a video and e-commerce technology company, last week. They have combined Liverclicker's video commerce application with Goodmail's CertifiedEmail platform, calling the result CertifiedVideo.GIF. The product follows Goodmail's CertifiedVideo, launched last year, which certified senders can use to bypass ISP filters and deliver e-mails with videos within them. | Dianna Dilworth, DM News - USA Today: Computer scammers solicit 'donations' for Haitian relief
Scammers have descended on the Internet in an all-out effort to dupe people into sending them money intended for victims — this time, after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Amid warnings from the FBI and computer-security companies, a wave of dodgy e-mails and websites soliciting charitable donations has popped up. Suspicious links to websites, for example, are up 400% in the past few days, says computer-security firm Proofpoint. E-mail security firm Goodmail Systems, meanwhile, is part of an industrywide initiative to ensure the e-mail of legitimate organizations, such as the Red Cross, isn't blocked inadvertently when security vendors filter bogus e-mail. | Jon Swatz, USA Today -

New Options with Video Marketing
This is related to: CertifiedVideo, CertifiedVideo .GIF
Email marketing provider Goodmail Systems and Liveclicker, a developer of advanced video commerce applications, have formed a JV in which Liveclicker's video technology will be added atop the Goodmail CertifiedEmail platform. The duo also announced a new service called CertifiedVideo .GIF, which allows Liveclicker-enhanced video emails to be delivered to all Goodmail ISP partners. Having a video render properly in a recipient's email client is not easy but it is possible, according to StrongMail - either by using video.GIF or Goodmail's CertifiedVideo. Even with video.GIFs there are technical "considerations to address, such as file size, bandwidth, etc., but companies like LiveClicker have emerged to handle these aspects, making it very easy for companies to adopt this method," StrongMail said. | Marketing Vox - This article is related to a Goodmail Press Release:

GOODMAIL AND LIVECLICKER DELIVER NEW VIDEO-BASED EMAIL MARKETING SERVICE
This is related to: CertifiedVideo, CertifiedVideo .GIF
Goodmail Systems, the creator of CertifiedEmail™, the industry’s standard class of trusted email, and Liveclicker, a developer of advanced video commerce applications, today announced a joint partnership to extend video email marketing to more consumers by adding Liveclicker’s video technology atop the Goodmail CertifiedEmail platform. The companies today also announced CertifiedVideo .GIF, a new joint service that ensures deliverability and automatic play of Liveclicker-enhanced video emails through all Goodmail ISP partners. Liveclicker’s Video Email Express platform is a patent-pending intelligent in-email video solution that enables email marketers to deliver video across email and mobile clients using a suite of standard and proprietary technologies. The Goodmail CertifiedEmail delivery platform, with its rigorous accreditation process, sends highly trusted email campaigns that include a cryptographically secure token allowing Liveclicker videos to play automatically in subscriber inboxes, even when images are disabled. Video (Rich Media) and Email. Many of you remember the early days of rich media, plagued with painfully slow connection speeds, uncertain delivery guidelines, email clients that did not render HTML, etc. Rich media was expensive to create and difficult to deliver. With the recent push from GoodMail and others, I think rich media will find its place as a staple in the marketer's arsenal. I am most excited about the ability to run JavaScript within the email itself. For some clients, this is enabling us to create whole new, dynamic experiences within campaigns (including integrating enhanced social media capabilities within the inbox). Stay tuned for more in this area throughout the year. | Ryan Deutsch | MediaPost
